What is Display Advertising?

Digital display advertising refers to the banner ads we see on websites and in-app. Display remains an essential component in many advertiser toolkits and it is still the richest tactic to learn about your customer and collect information that helps you communicate most effectively.

Blueprints to Great Display Advertising Campaigns

A display ad should always be eye-catching, relevant, and have a clear call-to-action to encourage a great response. Here are some best practices to consider when creating display adverts.

Be Compelling

Display ads have to be eye-catching enough to attract the attention of a user. Things like animation, the use of real people, brand colours, and clear text help display ads stand out.

Be Relevant

Display ads tend to be relatively small with limited space to work with, especially on mobile devices. Don’t try to say too much; the ad will just look cluttered. Instead, clearly communicate a single marketing message about a single product. Have multiple products? Run multiple ads within the same campaign.

Be Intriguing

Attention spans are short. It takes only a moment for someone to see a display ad, and in that moment you have to 1) capture their attention then 2) deliver the message quickly.

Be Enticing

Every display ad needs a strong call to action (CTA) that should be visually engaging with its size, shape and color. Bright colors and distinctive shapes, with a concise command, will make an ad enticing enough to click.
